Services for Helen Cornelius, 79, Northwood, who died Sunday, April 7,
1996, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, following an
automobile accident, were held Wednesday, April 10, 1:30 p.m., at Sion
Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Bev Calgaard, who accompanied
congregational hymns and vocalist, Richard Holstad.
Casket bearers were Duane Sindt, Carrol Albers, Jim Engelkes, Gene Albers,
Comer Groe and Art Cornelius.
Burial was at the Sion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lake Mills, with
Mittelstadt Funeral Home of Lake Mills in charge of arrangements.
Helen Cornelius, the daughter of George and Wina (Wientjes) Albers Sr.,
was born September 28, 1916, on a farm east of Klemme. She was baptized
and confirmed at Klemme United Church of Christ and graduated in 1935 from
Klemme High School. Helen attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar
Falls and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines. For over 20 years
she taught elementary students at several locations including Wisconsin
Dells, WI; Renwick; Dumont; Ventura and Clear Lake.
July 23, 1961, she married Reuben Cornelius at Sion Lutheran Church in
rural Lake Mills. They farmed near Joice until 1992 when they moved to
Northwood. Helen and Reuben have spent winters in Mesa, AZ.
Helen enjoyed reading and bowling and taught Sunday school and Bible
school.
Helen is survived by Twin sisters, Mrs. Winnie Buss of Klemme, and Mrs.
Carrie Pringnitz of Belmond; and one brother, Lubbe Albers of Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reuben, February
16, 1996; four brothers and two sisters.

Helen Cornelius died Sunday, April 7, 1996 at North Iowa Mercy Medical
Center from a car accident.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 10, 1:30 p.m., at Sion Lutheran
Church, rural Lake Mills. Rev. Gary Johnson will officiate with burial in
the Sion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.
Helen was born on Sept. 28, 1916 near Klemme, Iowa the daughter of George
and Wina (Wein) Albers. She married Reuben Cornelius on July 23, 1961 at
Sion Lutheran Church rural Lake Mills. She was a homemaker.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Reuben; her parents; four
brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are twin sisters, Winnie Buss, Klemme, IA, and Carrie Pringnitz,
Belmond; one brother, Lubbe Albers, Clear Lake.

Northwood woman dies in two-vehicle accident
Mason City, Ia. - A Northwood woman died in a
two-car wreck on a street just southeast of Mason City.
The Cerro Gordo County sheriff's office said
Helen Cornelius, 78, died Sunday when her car collided with one driven by
Rosanne Oelberg, 50, of Mason City.
Oelberg and two passengers were treated for
minor injuries.
