Harriett Arlene Anderson
1937 - 2000
Harriett Arlene Anderson was born on
November 4, 1937 on a farm at Rural Goodell, Iowa, the daughter of Verdie and
Mary (Goodridge) Anderson.
She attended country school near Goodell, Iowa and graduated from Klemme High
School in 1955.
She was united in marriage to Bernard Halfpop on December 7, 1957 in Goodell,
Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Belmond, Iowa where Harriett worked at
the First State Bank as a bookkeeper and teller. From September of 1959 until
January of 1966 they lived in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In January of 1966 they
moved to Fairmont where she worked at Stokley Van Camp and United Foods in
quality control and as a supervisor. More recently, Harriett worked part time
for DeLuxe Vending as a cook. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in
Fairmont where she was active in the Altar Guild, Social Committee and Wedding
Committee. She was also a member of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post #36
Ladies Auxiliary.
Harriett died Thursday afternoon, April 6, 2000, at Fairmont Community Hospital
at the age of sixty-two years.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard Halfpop of Fairmont; one son, Paul
Halfpop and his wife, Tami of Hardin, Montana; one granddaughter, Nicole Ann
Halfpop of Hardin, Montana; two brothers, her twin, Harold Anderson and his
wife, Bonnie of Goodell, Iowa, Clifford Anderson of Klemme, Iowa; two sisters,
Loretta Smith of Belmond, Iowa, Marion Kinseth and her husband, Roland of
Belmond, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Anderson of North Platte, Nebraska,
Marilyn Anderson of Belmond, Iowa, Catherine Barkema and her husband, Dick of
Goodell, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Harry, Harvey, Leonard
Anderson and one infant brother; one sister, Mary Prelipp; one sister-in-law,
Evelyn Anderson; two brrothers-in-law, Don Smith and Carl Prelipp.
