Edith Montgomery

Mrs. Edith Montgomery, 58

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Montgomery, 58, were conducted at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City at 10:30 a.m., July 12. Rev. Ole Winter officiated at the services. Norma Boomgarden, organist, accompanied the congregation in singing several hymns. Casketbearers were Arthur Bowman, Norman Juhl, Ralph Juhl, G. G. Riekena, Glen Shropshire and Adell Suby. Interment was in the Madison Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Edith Montgomery was born at Klemme on January 20, 1922, the daughter of Martin and Tillie (Kraus) Bachman. She received her education in the Klemme Schools and was married to Pierce Montgomery in Chillicothe, Missouri, on October 29, 1949. The couple established their home in Forest City where Mrs. Montgomery has been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the ILCW of the Church and the 20th Century Club. After her husbands death on March 10, 1971, she began employment as a sales clerk at the Coast-to-Coast Store in Forest City. Due to her failing health due to cancer, she was forced to resign a year ago. She died in a Mason City Hospital on Wednesday, July 9th at the age of 58 years.

Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her children, their spouses and grandchildren. They include: Leiann and Steve Pieper and their daughter, Jennifer of Antioch, Ill.; Jill and Dennis Pannkuk and their children, Matthew and Amy, of Britt; Cynthia Montgomery and her fiancé, Gary McCoy of Forest City; Michael Montgomery, Thomas and Timothy Montgomery, all at home in Forest City. Also, four brothers, Alvin Bachman of Glenville, MN.; Raymond Bachman of Charles City; Martin Bachman of Garner and Eugene Bachman of Klemme.
