Scott Wayne Badker
1971 - 2022

Scott Badker 51, died Monday December 5, 2022 at his home.

Scott Wayne Badker, was born October 25, 1971 to Dennis and Karen Badker (Clark) at Mercy in Mason City, Iowa. He grew up at the family farm, east of Klemme, where he resided until his death. In high school, he participated in basketball and worked at Pizza Hut. Scott was homecoming king and graduated as the last class from Klemme High School in 1990.

After high school, he had an array of jobs including working at Unicover, Country Home Marketing & Machine, IMT Transport, Brakke Implement, and CDI. He also worked at Shryock Racing Components where he did what he loved most, building modified racecars from the ground up. His most recent job was Plas-Tech Tooling in Garner where he truly enjoyed going to work every day. Everyone there made him feel like family. Scott also had a business of his own building custom modified race bodies and a side business painting custom helmets. His race bodies were the most unique around and racers came from out of state to purchase them.

Scott was very talented at everything he did including custom painting, welding, machine work, lettering, drawing, building models, building anything racing (karts, modifieds, late models, and snowmobiles). Scott drove racecars for years and later retired to help his stepsons race karts. Once karting was over, he started racing snowmobiles with his dad. Scott also built some nice street rods and a 1971 Nova drag car he drove himself. When Scott wasn’t racing himself, he was helping anyone that needed help getting to a track somewhere. He also tuned a lot of carburetors and engines for other racers big and small.

Scott also enjoyed goose and duck hunting with his stepsons and watching football, especially the Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, and San Francisco 49ers.

Scott is survived by his parents, Dennis Badker of Meservey and Karen Badker of Clear Lake; his brother Curt (Kelli) Badker of Clear Lake and their children Drake, Carson, and Mazi; stepsons Wade (Sarah) Lohman of Surprise, AZ and their children Klaus, Theo, and soon to be baby boy Lohman and Austin (Blair) Lohman of Ames, Iowa; uncle Bruce Clark of Lincoln, NE; cousins Shane Clark of Lincoln, NE and Sarah Clark of Phoenix, AZ and special friend Penny Weaver of Garner, IA.

Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Morris and Barbara Clark; paternal grandparents, Wayne ‘Bud’ and LaVohn Badker; and Uncle Craig Clark.

A viewing will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. North Clear Lake, Iowa 50428.
