Services for Evert Barz, 74, Waterloo, who died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1992 at
Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of emphysema, were held Saturday, Nov. 18,
10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church.
Burial was at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with graveside military rites
conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and V.F.W. Post #1623.
Kearns Huisman-Schumacher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Evert E. Barz, the son of Henry and Clara (Born) Barz, was born September 13,
1918 at Klemme.
December 8, 1940, he married Gladys Frogg at Klemme. He served in the U.S. Navy
on a submarine during World War II. He was a supervisor with John Deere &
Company for 30 years and retired in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Barz of Waterloo; one son, James Evert Barz
of Cape Coral, FL; two daughters, Carol Kay Laylin of Waterloo and Joan
Westemeier of West Bloomfield, MI; two brothers, the Rev. Raymond Barz of
Weyauwega, WI and Allen Barz of Garner; one sister, Avis Hagen of Klemme; seven
grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.

Evert E. Barz, 74, of 2012 W Seventh St., died Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Covenant
Medical Center from complications of emphysema.
He was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Klemme, son of Henry and Clara Born Barz. He
married Gladys Lorrane Frogg on Dec. 8, 1940, in Klemme.
Mr. Barz was a supervisor with Deere & Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Evert of Cape Coral, Fla,; two
daughters, Carol Kay Laylin of Waterloo and Joan Westemeier of West Bloomfield,
Mich,; seven grandsons and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, the Rev.
Raymond Barz of Weyauwega, Wis., and Allen of Garner; and a sister, Avis Hagen
of Klemme; he was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial
in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by
Becker-Chapman-American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher
Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
