- Lois A. Eenhuis, 79, of Garner passed away Monday,
December 16, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1
to 4 p.m. at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., Garner.
Inurnment will be held at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.
Memorials may be directed to Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in
Garner.
Lois Ann Eenhuis, the daughter of Lawrence Block and Esther Block Goche,
was born September 19, 1945, in Garner, IA. She attended school in Klemme,
IA, graduating from high school with the Class of 1963. She was married to
James Burton Eenhuis on September 11, 1965, and to this union three sons
were born, Brian, Bruce and Brad. As the boys became active with school,
Lois returned to work as a secretary at HALA Oil Company in Clear Lake,
IA. In the early 1980’s, she went to work at the United States Postal
Office in Garner, IA, eventually retiring after 30+ years of service. She
felt like she knew everyone who visited the post office on a personal
basis, which brought her great joy.
Lois enjoyed raising her boys and attending their school activities and
sports events. While the boys were growing up, she enjoyed taking
motorcycle vacations throughout the Midwest. She enjoyed traveling and
took each of her sons on their own individual vacation. As her boys had
families of their own, she enjoyed traveling to visit them and her
grandchildren.
Lois enjoyed living in Garner and had a daily routine that included lunch
and dinner stops at the various local restaurants. She was especially fond
of Subway and Hardee’s. She also enjoyed spending time with her mother,
Esther, until her passing, as well has her brother, Harlan, and
sister-in-law, Sandy. She was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed
Church in Garner. Lois is survived by her three sons, Brian (Cindy)
Eenhuis of Melbourne, FL, Bruce Eenhuis of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, and
Brad Eenhuis (Alison Gardner) of Cedar Rapids, IA; three grandchildren,
Taylor Eenhuis of Tampa, FL, Alexa Eenhuis (fiance, Zack Petrous) of
Jacksonville, FL, and Eva Eenhuis of Cedar Rapids, IA; her brother, Harlan
Block of Klemme, IA; and nephew, Nathan (Kathleen) Block of Waukon, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold; and her
sister-in-law, Sandy.
