Fatal Elevator Fall
Kansas City, Mo., July 7 -
Charles W. Bock, 23, was injured fatally today when he fell 15 feet down an
elevator shaft in the Argyle building. Bock formerly lived in Klemme,
Iowa. He was employed by the building management.

Charles Bock Killed In Elevator Fall
At Kansas City
Charles Bock, 24, former Klemme youth was killed early Monday morning when he
fell into an elevator shaft in the building where he was working at Kansas City.
Charles was a Veteran of World War II, is married. He was employed part time in
the elevator where he was killed, was attending a vocational training school.
Obituary
Charles William Bock was born March 27, 1923 at Klemme, Iowa, the eldest of five
sons born to his parents, Phillip and Anna (Laschen) Bock.
An elevator accident at the store where he worked in Kansas City, brought his
life to a close on Monday morning, July 7, 1947.
Most of the 24 years of his life were spent in Klemme, his home town.
He was baptized by Rev. A. A. Depping, when but a few weeks old, and during his
childhood years attended Sunday School and received religious instruction at
Klemme Evangelical and Reformed Church. He became a member of this church by
Confirmation in 1939.
Charles attended our public school and graduated from the Klemme High School in
the year 1942. While attending high school, Charles also worked part time in the
Times Print Shop.
And then came the war, and Charles was called to the colors in June 1943. He
served in the United States Army for 34 months, 13 months of which was overseas.
He was honorably discharged in February 1946.
After the war he found employment with the Mark's Furniture Co. in Montgomery,
Alabama, and it was there that he met Miss Odell Peoples and they were married
August 15, 1946.
A few months ago Charles and Odell moved to Kansas City, where Charles helped in
a store and also attended night school.
He leaves to mourn his tragic passing his wife Odell, his parents, Phillip and
Anna Bock and four brothers, Lawrence, Carol, Roger and Willis. And other more
distant relatives and friends.
