Lois Mae Hennings

October 8, 1938 - February 4, 2025

 
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Lois Mae Hennings, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025. She was born on October 8th, 1938 to Henry and Helena Boland in Klemme, Iowa. Lois graduated high school at 16 and received her BSN of nursing from the University of Iowa 4 years later. She was a dedicated nurse, wife to Robert Rohrer (deceased) and later to Richard Hennings. She was truly the best mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and stepmother that you could imagine. Throughout her life, she demonstrated unwavering compassion and care, both in her profession and for her family.

Lois is survived by her husband Richard Hennings, daughter Laurie Wallrichs (Steve) , her grandchildren Katherine Rutherford (Ryan), Claire Aponte (Arnaldo), and her great-grandson Henry. Also her sister Phyllis Lundberg, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her stepchildren Mike Hennings (Barbara), David Hennings (Sue), Lisa Lykins (John), and Mark Hennings. Plus step grandkids and step great grandkids.She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, a sister, Margaret, and an infant brother.

Lois will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family, her gentle spirit and her cookie making skills.

A visitation will be held at 10AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church followed by a memorial service at 11AM, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Lois’ remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lupus Foundation of America, in Lois’ memory.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
