Lavern Drake

Dr. Lavern Drake died in Florida
Pittsfield - Dr. Lavern Drake 71, of Satsuma Fla., formerly of Pike County, died
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Putman Hospital in Palotka, Fla.
He was born Nov. 24, 1964 [1914] in Klemme, Iowa, the son of Lynn and Esther
Campbell Drake. He married Estelle Hansen in October, 1939 in Iowa; she died in
1974. He married Jessie Mitchell in July, 1974 in Taylor, Mo., and she survives.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Dennis Drake of WhiteHall; a brother Raymond Drake
of Nashua, Iowa; a sister, Elsie Raymes of Jacksonville, Ark,; a stepson, Lynn
Mitchell of Pleasant Hill; a stepdaughter, Sharon Hawkes of Pleasant Hill; three
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Dr. Drake was a retired chiropractor. He was also a member of the Methodist
church. He was a graduate of the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport,
Iowa.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lummis-Bennett Funeral Home in
Pittsfield. Burial will be in Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are directed
to the Lavern Drake Trust Fund.
