Funeral services for Elsie Nuehring,
age 76, of Osage, Iowa, were held Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the Eden
Presbyterian Church, rural Rudd, with Rev. John Bates officiating. Burial was in
the Eden Presbyterian Cemetery. Elsie died Monday, March 14, 2005, at the
Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage.
Elsie was born July 29, 1928, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Tim and Meta (Fastenau)
Gerdes. She was baptized November 4, 1928, at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in
Belmond. Elsie graduated from Klemme High School in 1945. She was united in
marriage to Dean Nuehring at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Klemme on February
24, 1948. Prior to her marriage, Elsie had been employed at a grocery store in
Goodell. She was an active member of Eden Presbyterian Church.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; a son Dennis Dean Nuehring; and two
brothers, George and Elmer Gerdes.
She is survived by her husband Dean
Nuehring of Osage; six daughters: Avon (Jerry) Rurup of Titonka, and children,
Jodi and Jeremy; Donna (Marloe) Ellingson of Joice, and children Karen (Brian)
Ahrens and twins Emily and Tyler; Jennifer (Randy) Hall and daughter Kimberly,
and Dean Ellingson; Nancy (Neal) Hirota of Osage and children Nicole, Natalie,
Nicholas, and Nolan; Janet (Gerard) May of Osage and sons Jonathan and Jeffrey;
Ronda Olson of Rose Creek, Minn. and children Katherine and Derek; Brenda
(Randy) Ricke of Garner and children Amber, Stephanie and Alexander;
Daughter-in-law, Sharon Mihm of Mason City and children Timothy (Sarah) Nuehring,
Holly (Paul) Manny, and Michael Nuehring; Brother, Henry (Dorothy) Gerdes of
Belmond; and sisters-in-law, Norma Gerdes of Belmond and Rosie Gerdes of Klemme.

sports fan, loved to sew and quilt, played cards, helped with gardening, and
enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. Elsie was well known for the pies that
she loved to bake.

brothers, George and Elmer Gerdes.
She is survived by her husband Dean Nuehring of Osage; six daughters: Avon
