Donald H. Gibbs 1909 - 1964
D. H. Gibbs funeral set for Monday He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II including service with a landing craft infantry patrol on the Palaus in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge and the American Legion. Mr. Gibbs started his employment
with Northwestern States Portland Cement Co. in 1931 as auditor and had been
employed by the company continuously since 1935. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Rosemary, and a son John, at home; two brothers, Charles Gibbs, Mason City and Frank Gibbs, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a son, Donald. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hogan-McKee Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Thomas W. Keating of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. A Rosary is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and Scriptural Vigil of the Dead was scheduled at 8 p.m. at the Hogan-McKee Colonial Chapel. Visitation at the chapel was scheduled from Sunday noon until the time of services. Pallbearers selected are Robert Walsh, Frank Pirkl, C. E. (Chuck) Bush, Paul Swanziger, Merlin Borcharding and Don Giesen. Marjorie Walsh and Gertrude Pirkl are in charge of flowers. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, with military rites by the Mason City Veterans Association.
