- Calvin William Grosshuesch
Grosshuesch, Calvin William 86, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died peacefully
on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Circle of Life Legacy in Bentonville, Arkansas
after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 30, 1925 in
Stratford, Wisconsin to Rev. Calvin Grosshuesch and Alice (Kuhlman)
Grosshuesch.
Cal married the love of his life on May 30th, 1947. He served during World
War II in the United States Field Artillery as a Sergeant Major. He spent
most of his career at Naperville Central High School, in Naperville,
Illinois teaching math and coaching. In 1975 Cal was named Illinois State
Golf Coach of the Year and later was inducted in the Illinois Coaches
Association Golf Hall of Fame in 1993. He spent 6 years teaching for the
DODS system in Hanau, Germany, where he started the high school golf
program.
He retired and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1985 where he was a
member of the Bella Vista Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Chummy (Vivian Jubert) Grosshuesch; five sons,
Kent, Calvin, Clayt, Kit, Craig; two daughters, Kathy, Kendra; two
brothers, Ruben and Ed Grosshuesch; one sister, Gertrude and thirteen
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased in death by his brother, Ewald (Ozzie) Grosshuesch. Cal
was a great father, hero, role model, mentor, teacher, and rock for the
whole family and he will be truly missed by all. He and his heavenly
Father are probably talking about the great life he had at the 19th Hole.
A Memorial Service was held in Bella Vista and another memorial will take
place in Naperville this summer.
