Virginia M. (Doran) Stengel

1916 - 1992

 

Winnebago, Ill. - Virginia M. (Doran) Stengel, 75, Winnebago, Ill, mother of Judith Walton of Marshfield, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at her home after a 1 1/2 year illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Genandt Funeral Home, Winnebago, with the Rev. Raymer D. Cox of the First Church of the Brethren of Rockford, Ill., officiating. Burial will be in Winnebago Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Winnebago, to the late Ralph B. and Ora M. (Morris) Irving. She was a 1934 graduate of Winnebago High School and attended Swedish American Hospital School of Nursing for two years.

She was married to Harold F. Doran June 12, 1940, and he died March 8, 1972. She was married to Melvin R. Stengel Dec. 16, 1976.

She lived all of her life in the Winnebago community, except for a few years in Iowa. She and her first husband farmed for many years.

She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Keystone Fellowship Club, Lady Landowner's Association and Westfield Community Club.

Besides her daughter, survivors also include her husband, Melvin; two grandchildren, Mrs. Roger (Kimberly) Duellman and Steven Walton, both of Marshfield; one sister, Sarah Larson of Newark, Ill.; and one great-grandson.
