Passed away suddenly on February 29th, 2024

Cecil was born in Hancock County, Iowa, third child of Roy and Phildred Jacobs. He grew up on local farms and graduated from Klemme High School. Cecil attended Iowa State University on an ROTC scholarship and graduated with a Bachelors of Ceramic Engineering. Shortly thereafter he married his high school sweetheart, Marlene, and was a devoted husband to her for 64 years.

Cecil was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he also worked as a civilian consultant. He then joined 3M and worked there for 32 years until his retirement which, as he always said, was his true vocation. Despite this, he spent many years following his retirement as the chairman of the Woodbury Methodist Cemetery.

Cecil and Marlene raised their three children in Woodbury and enjoyed taking trips with the family. After retirement, they traveled frequently by RV visiting friends, relatives, and seeing new places. In between trips, they played bridge with their many friends and loved to attend Minnesota Orchestra concerts together.

Cecil was an able handyman and could do anything from minor fixes to building furniture. It was always a good day when he needed to make a trip to Home Depot. He was an avid reader and later in life his hobbies turned to computer technology, crypto currency, and stock trading.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Phildred; brother, Don Maurice; and sister, JoAnne Gentle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marlene; children, Chris, Daniel (JoEllen), and Peter (Shalini); sister, Kay Karsjens; brother, Mike (Trish); grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) and Nicholas (Ashley); great-grandchild, Graham; as well as many other loving family and friends.

Service to be held in Clear Lake, Iowa and private family interment at Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme, Iowa.
