Doris Evelyn Johnson Back

1921 - 2001

Doris Evelyn (Johnson) Back, died on Friday, August 3, 2001, at her home in Klemme.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Klemme on Tuesday, August 7, with Rev. Paddy Druhl officiating. Music was provided by organist, Margaret Tue and vocalist, Clay Kilgore. Casket bearers were Harley Nuehring, Joel Back, Jack Williams, Dave Ott, Ed Lentz and Clay Kilgore. Interment was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Doris Back was born to John Agard and Hilma (Arvidsson) Johnson on August 22, 1921, in Klemme, Iowa.

On May 27, 1949, she married Graydon Back in Klemme. Doris worked at Larson's Grocery Store and the United States Post Office in Klemme. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughters, Becky Tosel and her husband, Steve and grandchildren, Timothy and Ann, Mary Balek and her husband, Terry; grandchildren, Kimberly, Kerrill, Kathryn and Krista, all of Mason City; one sister, Ethel Steffen of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Charlene Back of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Graydon in 1989; two grandsons, Nicholas and John Tosel; two brothers, Fridolph and Harold; and two sisters, Bertha Johnson and Ruth Carson.
