Dwaine A. Johnson was born on Friday; October 13, 1922 in Klemme; Hancock
County, Iowa. Dwaine was the son of George and Blanche Johnson. He married
Josephine Gifford on Friday; December 19, 1947.
After 22 years of military service and reaching the rank of Sergeant Major, they
retired to Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Dwaine then worked at the
Marshalltown Post Office and as the bailiff of the District Court of Marshall
County. Upon final retirement, Dwaine and Jo spent their winters in Arizona.
Dwaine was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and numerous Masonic and
fraternal organizations.
Dwaine A. Johnson, age 85, passed away on May 17, 2007 at the Iowa Veterans Home
in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. He went to be with his wife Jo and
others.
Those left to mourn his passing are: his son: George. Richard Brown, his sister:
Emily (Carl) Swearingen of Melbourne; Marshall County, Iowa. A half brother: Bob
(Darlene) Brown of Yuma; Yuma County, Arizona. Their families and life long
friends: Dick Klaessy, Susan (Klaessy) Grimes and family.
Dwaine was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, his parents and one
brother. May they rest in peace. Dwaine will be missed for his kind ways and
gentle spirit.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening; May 20,
2007 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday;
May 21, 2007 at the funeral home. Following services, internment will be at Rose
Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown Community College Foundation for
Scholarships or the Iowa Veterans Home.
