Anita Fredericka Broers, the daughter of Arthur and Freda (Kyhl) Katter, was born November 15, 1938. She was raised on a farm northwest of Klemme. Anita was baptized and confirmed at Peace Reformed Church.

She attended rural school in Liberty Township until the 8th grade and graduated from Klemme High School in 1956. After graduating from Waldorf College, she received her teaching certificate. Anita taught in the elementary grades at Franklin Consolidated and Clear Lake Central School.

On July 8, 1962, she was united in marriage to Emil J. Broers, Jr. They lived in Ventura and then later in LeMars, Iowa where her husband taught Vocational Agriculture. In 1965, they moved back to a farm south of Ventura where they made their home and vocation, farming together for over 30 years. After switching from livestock to crop farming only, they moved to a house on the lake in Ventura.

Alongside her husband, they enjoyed traveling which included delivering Winnebagos, working for Wycliff in the winter months, and meeting and hosting fellow Christians through Christian B and B and the Evergreen Network.

After Emil’s passing, Anita continued to enjoy gardening, visiting family, attending grandchildren’s special events, and sharing her faith. During the past two winters, Anita lived in Sioux Center to be closer to family.

She was a lifetime member of Peace Reformed Church where she was active in Sunday School and Bible school, as a participant and then teacher for many years. Anita attended Women’s Missionary Society and couple’s and women’s Bible study groups.

Anita is survived by her three children, Twyla (Bryant) Doyle of Highlands Ranch, CO, Troy (Dana) Broers of Sioux Center, IA and Tom (Dawn) Broers of Bourbonnais, IL; 11 grandchildren, Jenna (E.J.) Riviera, Jonathan (Sarah) Doyle, Cara (Josh) Newell, Matthew (Kourtney) Doyle, Emily (Mark) Lyzenga, Benjamin (Alexis) Broers, Katie (Luke) DeSautel, Austin (Michaela) Broers, Elizabeth (Parker) Morrissette, Benjamin Randak and Alexander Randak; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gloria Warren, and a sister-in-law Marilyn Broers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil, June 5, 2015; and brothers, Arthur Katter, Jr. and William (Alice Ann) Katter, and brother-in-law Billy Broers.
