Walter George Klotzbach died Friday, November 2, 2001, at Memorial
Hospital in Prairie du Chein, WI. He was 83
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 5, at St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Monona. Burial with military rites by Amvets Post 27
and American Legion Post 519, was held at the Monona City Cemetery.
Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Walter, the son of Levi and Esther Klotzbach, was born on April 25, 1918,
at Klemme. He graduated from Klemme High School in 1936. He entered the
United States Army in June 1942. He was a member of the 2nd Armored
Division called "Hell on Wheels". He served in North Africa and the
European Theater.
On May 31, 1946, Walter married Irene Meyer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in
Monona. He was a farmer and was employed at Swiss Valley Farms and Monona
Co-op.
Walter was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Kay.
Survivors include his wife Irene; two sons, Stan and wife Leta Klotzbach
and Don Klotzbach, all of Monona; two grandchildren, Stan Klotzbach Jr.
and Gina Mirica; two great-grandchildren, Isabel Mirica and Cameryn
Klotzbach; two brothers, Louis Klotzbach of Lake Delton, WI. and Floyd
Klotzbach of Hamilton, OH; two sisters, Ilo Smock of Belmond and Phyllis
Wilite of Mason City.
