Mrs. Clifford Eliason of Kanawha Dies
Mrs. Clifford (Mary Margaret) Eliason of Kanawha passed away Sunday afternoon,
Nov. 7, at the Belmond Community Hospital. She had entered the hospital Saturday
morning and was 59 years old at the time of her death.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Kanawha Lutheran Church at 11:00
a.m. with the Rev. Charles Hulsether conducting , Mrs. Edward Engstrom was
organist for the congregation hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and for
soloist, Mrs. William Dahl, as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross".
Casket bearers were Larry Lange, Cecil Eliason, David Lange, Larry Eliason,
Gerald Lange and William Schroeder.
Burial was at Amsterdam Twp. Cemetery, Kanawha, courtesy of the Carter Funeral
Home, Kanawha and Britt.
Mary Margaret Elisaon was born February 27, 1917, in Liberty Township, Hancock
County, Ia., the daughter of Albert J. and Maggie Elizabeth Lange.
She was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of the Liberty
Methodist Church until her marriage to Clifford Eliason Feb. 27, 1941 at the
home of her parents. At that time, she became a member of the Kanawha Lutheran
Church.
She received her education in the Hancock County rural schools and graduated
from Klemme High School in 1936. Mrs. Eliason was a member of the Church A.L.C.W.
and the Neighborhood Club. With her husband, they had farmed east of Kanawha
since 1941.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford of Kanawha, two daughters, Mrs. Larry
(Carol) Wessels of Rockwell, and Marlys Barritt of Kanawha, one son, Raymond of
Mason City, eight grandchildren, two brothers, Ray Lange of Garnavillo, Ia., and
Glenn Lange of Goodell, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.
