Funeral services were held for Ray D. Lange, 79, rural Garnavillo,
Saturday, Sept. 23, 1989, at Gospel Hall, Garnavillo. Joel Portman and
Oswald MacLeod officiated the service with burial in the Garnavillo City
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lynn Guyer, Steven Kregel, John Kregel, Gerald
Lange, Raymond Eliason and Larry Lange.
Ray D. Lange was born June 2, 1910, in Garner, Iowa, the son of Albert and
Maggie (Hammon) Lange. He attended Klemme High School in Garner and two
years at Iowa State University. On June 2, 1937, he married Kathryn Kregel
at Gospel Hall in Garnavillo. From 1931 - 1937, he was a DHIA Supervisor
at Garnavillo Association. From 1937 to present he farmed in rural
Garnavillo. Ray Lange died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1989, at his home in rural
Garnavillo.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn; a son Lorne of Garnavillo; and two
grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother and sister.

Obituary:
Ray David Lange was born in Hancock County, Garner, Iowa on June 2, 1910. He
was a son of Albert J. Lange and Maggie M. (Hammon) Lange.
He attended country school and graduated from Klemme High School, then was a
student at Iowa State College in Ames for two years. He came to Clayton
County in may 1931, to serve as a Dairy Heard Improvement Supervisor for the
Garnavillo DHI association, a position he continued to hold until June 2,
1937, when he married Kathryn Kregel of Garnavillo. To this union was born
one son, Lorne. They began farming on the Arthur Kregel farm and continued
there until March 1953. Then they bought the Eldo Dickman farm where he
resided the rest of his life. He served as President of the Clayton County
Farm Bureau, was secretary of the Garnavillo Creamery and served as a 4-H
leader. He took much interest in soil conservation and won a state award in
1954 for conservation.
He trusted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior on Dec. 2, 1942, and
attended the meetings at the Gospel Hall in Garnavillo.
Mr. Lange continued in good health until January 1988 when his sickness
began which eventually resulted in his death. He was in the hospital at
times, but was being cared for at home at the time of his decease.
Ray is survived by his wife Kathryn, his son, Lorne, two grandchildren, Troy
and Tracy Lange; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.
Burial will be at the Garnavillo Cemetery following the funeral service.
