Allen Lau, 50, Killed In Traffic Mishap
Allen Lau, age 50, a Klemme area farmer, was killed when the pickup he was
driving collided with another pickup driven by Joel Humphrey, 20 Hadley,
Minn. The accident occurred two miles east of Klemme at the intersection of
county blacktops B-55 and R-68 about 11 p.m. Monday.
Humphrey and three passengers who were riding with him were taken to Mercy
Hospital, Mason City.
The three passengers were: Kyra Hayworth, 18, Klemme; Clark Kipfer, 27,
Bingham, Minn.; and Sandy Monson, 17, Klemme. Humphrey, Kipfer and Monson
were reported in good condition Tuesday and Hayworth was reported in fair
condition.
According to authorities, Humphrey was eastbound on B-55 and Lau was
southbound on R-68 when Lau apparently drove into the path of the Humphrey
vehicle. Both vehicles went into the south ditch. Both vehicles were totally
destroyed.
The accident was investigated by the Iowa Highway Patrol and the Hancock
County sheriff's office.

Funeral Services For Allen Lau, 50
Services for Allen Lau, 50, of rural Klemme, who died Monday night as a
result of a motor accident east of Klemme will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with the Rev.
James A. Laak officiating.
Organist, Mrs. Ernest Gerardi accompanied Bill and Tom Renner, who sang as a
duet.
Honorary pallbearers will be William Korleski, Leonard Kaduce, Dwayne
Klakwarf, Don Quintus, Mark Friedow and E. D. Buntenbach.
Active pallbearers will be Dennis Lau, Paul Staudt, David Weiss, Richard
Barker, Graydon Lau and Mark Floy.
Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with the Cataldo Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.
Allen Alvin Lau, the son of Emil and Alma (Haberkamp) Lau was born January
20, 1927 at Klemme. He was raised on a farm near Klemme and a graduate of
the Klemme High School, and attended Waldorf College at Forest City.
August 17, 1947 he was united in marriage to Ramona DeWeerdt
in Garner. They have farmed in the Klemme area since their marriage. He
served as deacon and elder of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ
in Klemme and also served on the Klemme Co-op Elevator Board.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona, a daughter, Mrs. Lloy (Sandra)
Flickinger of Fort Dodge, two sons, Douglas of DeWitt and Robert at home,
his mother, Mrs. Emil (Alma) Lau, two brothers, Paul Lau and Verner Lau both
of Klemme and one sister, Mrs. Richard (Lois) Hoppel of Alexander.
