Jerry Dale Linahon
1949 - 2008
- Laurel - Jerry Dale Linahon, of Laurel, passed
away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, after a long
courageous battle; he was 58.
Jerry was born Sept. 19, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa, to William Dale and Fern
(Gifford) Linahon. Jerry grew up in Iowa, working on the farm with his uncles
and driving truck from a young age. His career spanned hundreds of thousands of
miles logged as a long haul truck driver and later as dispatcher for Wind River
Trucking in Park City.
Jerry's passions were his family, hunting, fishing, camping, raising cattle,
dogs, cooking, canning; having coffee with his friends and telling the many
stories and jokes he was famous for, as only he could.
Many will miss his unique laugh and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by the love of his life for the last 22 years, Melba Ganoe of
Laurel; daughters Kristal (Rick) Hodges of Redmond, Ore., Nicole (Albert)
Herrera and grandson Chance Eastlick of Wichita, Kan.; son Matthew Linahon and
daughter Michelle Rodriguez of Redmond, Ore., grandson Kody Plymesser of Titonka,
Iowa; sisters Marlene (Jack) Smith of Klemme, Iowa, and Sandy (Mike) Bailey of
Kalispell; and numerous nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous close friends.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Smith Funeral
Chapel-Laurel, with a reception at the Park City Civic Center following the
service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jerry's name to Rocky Mountain
Hospice or the American Heart Association.
