- Former Hancock Resident Killed in Louisiana
Klemme - Word has been received here that a former resident, Mrs. Carl (Ida)
Suckow, was killed in an automobile accident on April 16 at Ruston, La.
Mrs. Suckow taught school for 11 years in Hancock County before her marriage on
May 26, 1918. They lived in Garner for several years where he was employed by
the Skelly Oil Company. She was born Nov. 16, 1893, at Klemme, the daughter of
Herman and Martha Ludeke.
In 1933 she and her husband moved to Ridder, La., and later to Jennings, La.,
where they owned and operated a business. They decided to retire and move to
Springfield, Mo., where their son lives. They were on their way to their new
home when the accident occurred.
Surviving are her husband, Carl; two sons, Warren and Dean; two grandsons; five
sisters, Mrs. Art (Emma) Schoenwetter, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Schlichting, Mrs.
William (Lydia) Ax, Mrs. Elmer (Sarah) Weisbrod and Mrs. George (Mary)
Schoenwetter, and two brothers, Henry Ludeke and Ralph Ludeke.

- Rites Held For Mrs. C. Suckow
Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Suckow, 62, former Klemme resident were
held at the Methodist church in Klemme Thursday, April 19, with the Rev.
Melvin Miller in charge of the services.
The Rev. Miller used Psalms 23:4 as his text. Comfort in music was
supplied by Mrs. Carold Larson and Mrs. Marvin Lemke who sang "In the
Garden" & "Beyond The Sunset", accompanied by Miss Margaret Haefner.
The pallbearers were Clarence Ludeke, Stanley Ludeke, Ralph Weisbrod,
Junior Roths, Homer Schoenwetter, and Milton Paul. Burial was made in
Calvery cemetery, Klemme, Bohn Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
Ida Alice Ludeke was born November 16, 1893, at Klemme, the youngest of
ten children born to Herman F. and Martha Ludeke. She grew to womanhood in
the Klemme vicinity and for eleven years was a successful school teacher
in Hancock County.
She was united in marriage to Carl W. Suckow May 26, 1918. They made their
home in Garner for several years where Mr. Suckow was employed by the
Skelly Oil Company. In 1933 they moved to DeRidder, La., and later to
Jenning, La., where they owned and operated the Suckow and Sons Oil Co.
They built up a successful business, with Mrs. Suckow often rendering her
assistance.
Mrs. Suckow was a member of the Methodist church, teaching a Sunday school
class for many years. She as a faithful member of the choir, a member of
the W.S.C.S. and held various offices until her health failed a year ago.
This spring Mr. and Mrs. Suckow decided to retire and move to Springfield,
Mo., where their sons live. They sold their business and were on their way
to their new home when their car went out of control near Ruston, La.,
causing an accident which proved fatal to Mrs. Suckow, April 16.
Mrs. Suckow was a kind and loving wife and mother and she will be greatly
missed. She leaves to mourn her sudden death her husband, Carl, two sons
Warren & Dean and two grandsons, Randy and Daniel, five sisters and two
brothers; (Emma) Mrs. Art Schoenwetter, (Clara) Mrs. Fred Schlichting,
(Lydia) Mrs. William Ax, (Sarah) Mrs. Elmer Weisbrod, (Mary) Mrs. George
Schoenwetter, and Henry and Ralph Ludeke, besides many other relatives and
friends.
