Richard John Meinders Sr.

1947 - 2025

Richard John Meinders Sr.
June 30, 1947 - April 22, 2025

Richard “Rich” Meinders Sr., 77 of Manly, passed away very peacefully at 4:03 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Rich’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, Iowa.

Prior to his Celebration of Life service, a visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.

Rich was born and raised on a farm near Klemme, IA, the son of Elmer and Lavonne Meinders, and the brother to Linda and Larry. Rich entered the United States Navy in November of 1964 as a Navy Corpsman and moved back to Clear Lake, Iowa after his service. Rich was blessed with and proud of his three children, Bryan, Paula, and Rich Jr., his grandchildren Chereece, Destiny, Nate, Tommy and Nicholas, and his great grandchildren Raelee and Gavin.

Rich was a skilled construction man, heavy machinery operator, and truck driver, who always took pride in working hard and completing the job. Rich was a silent giant and protector of those less fortunate who anonymously donated food and funds to families in need across North Iowa communities.

Rich’s last moments with us were spent listening to Simple Man, A Country Boy Can Survive, and his last breath was drawn listening to the song Free. Rich was a simple man and a country boy who is now as free as he’ll ever be.

As he desired, Rich’s vessel for this life was cremated on Friday afternoon, April 25, 2025, and is with his family.
