Franklin D. Roths killed in Texas
Goodell: Franklin Dean Roths was killed instantly April 15 at Harlingen, Texas,
when the motorcycle which he was riding was involved in a head-on crash with a
bus.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Evangelical
United Brethren Church in Goodell, with the Rev. Forrest Lay officiating. Music
was provided by a quartet as follows: Mrs. Robert McNutt, Amos Hanson, Mrs. Park
Miller, J. J. Cook. Organist was Lester VerHelst and pianist was Arthur Savogue.
Burial was made in the Amsterdam Cemetery, with military services conducted at
the graveside. Pallbearers were Lester Buseman, Irvin Buseman, Franklin Buseman,
Robert Roths, Thos. Roths Jr., and Francis Buseman.
Born Nov. 22, 1929, at Klemme, he was the son of Robert and Nettie Roths. After
completing his high school education, he entered in the service of his country
serving in Korea until his discharge in 1952. He had completed 64 combat
missions. He with his parents, had spent the winter in Combs, Texas.
Survivors are three children, Franklin, Michael and Leanna of Clear Lake; his
parents, a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Marlene) Johnson of Garner, and a brother,
William, of Minneapolis, Minn., and nine nieces and nephews.
