Brother of Titonka Woman Passes Away
Services for Dr. Paul Schuldt, 55, who passed
away August 7 at Mentor Ohio, were held Monday, August 9 at Hoperidge United
Methodist Church there. Another service was held August 12 in the Immanuel
Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. Burial was in the Ell Township
Cemetery.
Dr. Schuldt, the son of Herman and Emila
Schuldt, was born near Klemme on Dec. 25, 1920. He later graduated from
the Klemme High School and Iowa State Teachers College. During World War
II he served with the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1946 as a radar officer.
He remained with the reserves unit until 1958, having attained the rank of
captain.
He received his master's and PhD in 1951 from
ISU. From 1959 through 1961 he was with the Boyce Institute for Plant
Research at Yonkers, N.Y. In 1961 he became employed with the Diamond
Shamrock Chemical Co. of Painesville, Ohio. At the time of his death he
was with T.R. Evans Research Center of Painesville.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; one
daughter, Linda and one son, Steven, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Ted (Mabel)
Dunmire of Titonka; and a niece, Thea of Iowa City.

Former Klemme Resident Dies In Ohio
Dr. Paul Schuldt, 55, died Saturday, August 7, in Mentor, Ohio.
Schuldt was the son of Herman and Emila (Haupt) Schuldt, born near Klemme, on
December 25, 1920. He later graduated from the Klemme High School and Iowa State
Teachers College. During World War II, Schuldt served with the Marine Corps from
1942 to 1946, as a radar officer. He remained with the reserves unit until 1958,
having attained the rank of captain.
Schuldt received his master's and PhD in 1951 at ISU. From 1959 through 1961 he
was with Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research at Yonkers, New York. In
1961 he became employed with the Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company of
Painesville, Ohio.
At the time of his death, Schuldt was with T. R. Evans Research Center of
Painesville.
He was a member of the American Phytopathological Society, American Chemical
Science, Iowa, N. E. Weed Control Society and honorary societies of Beta Beta
Beta, Lambda Delta Lambda, Blue Key, Gamma Sigma Delta, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma
Xi.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 9, at 1:00 at Hoperidge United
Methodist Church, Mentor, Ohio. Another service will be held Thursday, August 12
at 2:00 p.m. in the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. The
Rev. James Laak will preside at the Klemme service.
Surviving Schuldt is his wife, Esther, one daughter, Linda and one son, Steven,
both at home, a sister (Mabel) Mrs. Red Dunmire of Titonka and a niece, Thea of
Iowa City.
Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery.
Bohn Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
