The family of Marvyle Gertrude Simmons Taylor has requested that memorial
contributions be made to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church or the
Easter Seal Society of Iowa in her memory.
Marvyle was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Buffalo Center, the daughter of Lewis
Elwin and Vivian Mable (Dingman) Simmons.
She attended and received her education in the Clear Lake, Ventura, Klemme
and Hayfield school systems. She graduated from Hayfield School in 1936.
After completing her schooling, she worked as a clerk in her father's
grocery store, and also belonged to 4-H and was active in the Methodist
church.
On Oct. 6, 1937 she was united in marriage to Herbert Owen Taylor in
Algona. After their marriage, they farmed for 17 years west of
Hayfield and east of Goodell. In 1954, they moved to Clear Lake where her
husband worked for Allied Mills for 26 years.
Marvyle was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active on
several committees, and also held local offices, including that of

centers, read to a blind friend who was a resident at a care center and
volunteered at the Opportunity Village Store. She also collected music
boxes, coffee cups and poems. She loved children and music.
Marvyle enjoyed life and loved her family and friends. She believed in
living one day at a time and that "Life is a gift from God. What we do
with it is our gift to God."

in Mason City allowed her life to be extended, which enriched her and her
family and friends.
