Services for Douglas E. Sobek, 46, Klemme, who died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, were held Friday, Aug. 7, 2 p.m., at Tenold Funeral Chapel in Klemme, with the Pastor Georgia White-Kisslring officiating.

Casket bearers were Dan Sobek, Dave Back, Brian Kiefer, Perry Green, Jim Rasmusen and John Menke.

Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.

Douglas Edward Sobek, the son of Fred Edward and Ethel Marie (Netland) Sobek, was born October 19, 1951, at Klemme. He graduated from Klemme High School in 1970, and then entered the United States Army. After his discharge from the Army he returned to Klemme and had worked for Korberts in Klemme for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Barry Manilow music and was an avid Boston Celtics fan. He had been in failing health for some time.

He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Whitney and her husband, Joe of Emmetsburg; a granddaughter, Amanda Jean; sisters, Beverly Clark and her husband, Ken of Gladbrook and Sheryll Klesel and her husband, John of Garner; brothers, Roland Sobek and his wife, Kay of Klemme, Glen Sobek of Klemme and Rodney Sobek and his wife, Cindy of Knoxville, and several nieces and nephews.

He was peceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roger and a niece, Dawn.

Klemme, Iowa - Douglas Edward Sobek, 46, of Klemme, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998) at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Tenold Funeral Chapel, Klemme, with the Rev. Georgia White-Kisslring, officiating. Interment will be in the Ell Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme, and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Douglas Edward Sobek was born Oct. 19, 1951, at Klemme. Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Whitney, of Emmetsburg; granddaughter, Amanda Jean; sisters, Beverly Clark, of Gladbrook, and Sheryll Klesel, of Garner; brothers, Roland Sobek, of Klemme; Glen Sobek, of Klemme; and Rodney Sobek, of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
