Phyllis J. Swanson Loeffler

1925 - 2015

Phyllis J. Swanson Loeffler, Ocala, Fla.


Ocala, Fla. - Phyllis J. Swanson Loeffler passed away Dec. 21, 2015, at her home in Ocala, FL.

She was born to Oscar Swanson and Anna Dahlgren Swanson in Klemme, IA, on April 9, 1925. She grew up on a farm east of Klemme and graduated from Klemme High School in 1942. She also attended Waldorf College.

She met Karl Loeffler in 1943 and they were married Dec. 23, 1944, at Methodist Parsonage in Klemme. They began farming in the Klemme and Nora Springs area. They had three children: Craig, Vance, and Renette. In 1964, Karl got into sales and relocated the family to Lisbon, Iowa, and then to Chillicothe, IL. In 1972, Karl got out of sales and moved the family to St. Pete, FL, and got into "flipping houses.”

In 1985, they retired and moved to Inverness, FL, and then to Ocala, FL, in 2003. Karl and Phyllis were married for 64 years when Karl passed away in 2009. Phyllis enjoyed hand-written letters to friends and family.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Vance Loeffler of Hernando, FL; daughter, Renette Hess (Duke) of Ocala, FL; three grandchildren: Jill, Charlie, and Karlie; two great-granddaughters: Jordon and Evie Ann; a special friend and companion, Bruce Arnold of Klemme, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karl; her oldest son, Craig; four brothers (Albert, Carl, Roy, and Leonard Swanson); six sisters (Mary Swanson, Esther Etchen Miller, Ruth Bridges, Dora Lawhorn, Edith Lemke, and Ethel Haynes).
