Belmond - Esther L. Tulp, 82, most recently a resident of the
Rehabilitation Center of Belmond, died Wednesday (April 14, 2010) at the
Rehabilitation Center of Belmond, with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the
Klemme United Methodist Church, Klemme. The Rev. Paddy Druhl will be
officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Rowan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Andrews Funeral Home, 528
East Main Street, Klemme, and continue one hour prior to the services at
the church on Saturday. Memorial are suggested to the Hospice of Wright
County, Rehabilitation Center of Belmond, the family, or the donor's
choice.
Esther Lucille Tiggeman was born June 7, 1927, at St. Louis, MO., the
daughter of William and Martha (Heginger) Tiggeman. In her early years she
moved with her family to Iowa, where she attended Klemme Schools. Esther
had been a life-long home maker. She was also employed for periods of time
at Gerardi's Restaurant in Klemme, a restaurant in Forest City and after
moving to town in 1963, had worked at the Belmond Health Care Center and
the Belmond Hospital.
Esther enjoyed luncheon outings with her many friends throughout the years
and was a member of the Belmond Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to
work puzzle books of any kind.
Esther was united in marriage to Howard R. Tulp on June 22, 1994, at the
Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Following their marriage the two enjoyed doing a great deal of traveling
and spent many good years together before Esther's health required her to
become a resident of the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond in September of
2006. During her time there, she was blessed nearly every day with visits
from her husband, Howard.
Esther is survived by her husband, Howard R. Tulp, Goodell; four
stepchildren and their spouses; 13 step-grandchildren and their spouses;
five step-great grandchildren; a son, Melford Velau and companion,
Melissa; one sister, Velma (Lloyd) Serba, Mission, Texas; and numerous
nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Eddie,
Robert, and Richard Tiggeman.
