Ronald “Ron” Trampel, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake surrounded by his loving family.

Ron’s funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Avenue North, Clear Lake, Iowa 50428, with Chaplin Jani Dahlin officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.

Burial will take place in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Iowa; with military honors conducted by the members of the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed in care of the family.

Ron was born March 21, 1939, in Klemme, Iowa, the son of John and Minnie (Beek) Trampel. He graduated from Clear Lake High School with the Class of 1957.

In February of 1958, Ron married Kaye Dickerson. To this union, they were blessed with Les, Kimberly, and Jon. Ron was enlisted into the United States Air Force in October of 1957. He was very proud to serve his country for eight years, during which time he served as military police, honor guard, and a competition shooter.

After his honorable discharge, Ron held many jobs. He spent 28 1/2 as custodian and Director of Buildings and Grounds for the Clear Lake School District. After one year of retirement, he worked for 13 years as a custodian at Ventura Elementary School and drove school bus.

On June 25, 1999, Ron married Jane Buckley. On September 27, 2002, they were blessed with their adopted daughter, Sarah Marie Trampel, from Kazakhstan. Ron said it took “six weeks of hard labor.”

In August of 2020, Jane’s mother moved in, and Ron helped care for her for three years alongside Jane. They loved picking on each other and genuinely loved one another.

Ron was a gentle soul and a hardworking man. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and uncle who will be missed greatly. He will be remembered as the “sweetest man ever”.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his children, Les (Bev) Trampel, Kim (Kevin) Buffington, Jon (Melissa) Trampel, Jennifer (Ylva) Reysack, and Sarah Trampel (Jai Mukraj); 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Nylene Trampel; several nieces and nephews; and members of Jane’s family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Kaye Trampel, in 1996; his mother- and father-in-law; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; grandson, Justin Anderson; and many other family members and friends.
