Jeanne Hogard

1928 - 2013

August 29, 1928 - May 8, 2013

Jeanne Hogard, age 84, of Buffalo Center, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Jeanne Arlys was born on August 29, 1928, to Harry and Nettie (Johnson) Trumbell in rural Goodell, Iowa. She grew up in the Goodell area and graduated from Klemme High School. She, next, worked in Forest City as a waitress and in retail.

On June 30, 1950, she married Vernon Hogard in Belmond, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, Darla and Steven. Shortly after they married, they moved to Buffalo Center, and in 1957, they took over the Blacksmith shop, which they ran until their retirement in 2002. Jeanne enjoyed gardening, square dancing, sewing, baking, and traveling. Very fond of all animals, she would take in sick ones to mend back to health, but she always had a special place in her heart for her cats and her dog, CoCo.

Jeanne is survived and will be greatly missed by her son, Steve (Lois), of Crystal Lake; her grandson, Ben (Tina), of Indianola; three great grandchildren, Wesley, Kaden, and Tylar; a nephew, Brad Trumbell; and a niece, Jane Hopkins, and their families.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, one brother, and one infant sister.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 13, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Deb Devine officiating. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 PM, Sunday, at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery.
