- L. Soderberg Rites Today At Burt
Funeral services for Lurena Soderberg, 77, Burt, will be held at 2 p.m. today
(Thursday) in the United Methodist Church at Burt with the Rev. Wendell
Burroughs officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Algona, with Garry
Funeral Home, Bancroft in charge of arrangements.
Lurena Wessel was born Dec. 15, 1892, at Dubuque, Ia. She was the daughter of
Rev. George and Clara Hartwick Wessel and the family later moved to Burt where
Rev. Wessel served the Methodist Church for some time. She was a student at
Charles City College for two years and graduated from Bethesda Hospital at
Cincinnati, Ohio with a major in social service. Miss Wessel was married to
Fridolf Soderberg at McGregor, Ia. March 2, 1948. She operated a convalescent
home in Bert for several years and died Monday at St. Ann Hospital in Algona.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Burt, a charter member of
their W.S.C.S. and a member of the Fidelis class and Shirley circle.
Mr. Soderberg is her only immediate survivor.
