Miss Allen dead at 61

Dorothy Jane Allen, 61, a former Ames resident, died at her home in Tucson, Ariz. Tuesday after an illness of about two years.

Born in Ames, she was a graduate of Ames High School, and of Iowa State University, in 1929. She was a home economics teacher in the Iowa public schools until 1943. She served as supervisor of food services in the Peoria, Ill. public school system from 1943 until her retirement in 1963.

She is survived by three sisters, Harriet, of 423 Oliver Ave., Mrs. Gladys Witter, Route 1 and Ruth Allen of Tucson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Adams Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Davies, pastor of the Collegiate Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
