- Kent, Wash. — Eunice Marie Erdal Strand died Friday,
Oct. 7. Eunice was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Rake. The second child of Martin
and Amelia Erdal, she helped in the family store learning the values of
honest and hard work.
Eunice graduated from both Waldorf College and St. Olaf College and taught
in Hanlontown, where she met Alvin Strand. They were married in 1942 and
following WWII they moved to Forest City, where they established the
Strand Dairy. In addition, Eunice taught home economics and English at
Crystal Lake Elementary School.
Together they retired to Mesa, Arizona in 1977. A longtime member of
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City and Victory Lutheran Church in
Mesa, Arizona, Eunice’s strong Christian faith was an integral part of her
life. Being of assistance to others and entertaining guests in her home
were lifelong activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Amelia, her sisters
Magdalene and Ardys, and her husband Alvin.
She is survived by her brother, Norris, sons Ken, John, Mark and Tim,
daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment in Forest City is pending.
