- W. Henry Galbreth, 84, of Scotish Rite Park, 2909
Woodland Ave., died Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center following
brain surgery. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United
Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Masonic
Cemetery.
Mr. Galbreth was born in St. Ansgar and had lived in Des Moines since
1941. He retired in 1973 as chief of the publications section of the
Department of Public Instruction and had been superintendent of the Klemme
public schools.
He was a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, the Des Moines Consistory, the
Walt Whitman Club, The Iowa Retired School Personnel Association, the Des
Moines Retired Teachers Association, the Iowa Association of School
Administrators, the Iowa State Education Association and the National
Education Association.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel; a son, William of Des Moines; and a sister,
Ruth VanDeest of Mission Hills, Calif.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Dunn's Funeral Home, where the
family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made
to his church.
