At Klemme, Iowa
Funeral services for Wilbur Lloyd Haefner were held on Saturday, March 19,
1977 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Klemme, Iowa.
Rev. Donald Campbell officiated the services. The organist was Muriel
Schulz and Dora Campbell sang "Face to Face". The Congregation sang
"Amazing Grace" and "My Hope is Built".
Casket Bearers were Martin Barz, Orville Bridges, Don Lemke, Mike Lemke,
Pete Kilgore and Leon Gelner.
Interment was at Klemme Cemetery, Klemme, Iowa. Andrew-Quesenberry Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.
Wilbur Haefner was born on May 8, 1903 in Liberty township, Hancock
County, to J. W. and Alice Schult Haefner. He attended the local schools
and was confirmed in the Methodist Church in Liberty township. On November
1, 1927 he was married to Esther Beier at Klemme. He farmed until 1948 and
he drove a truck for the Klemme Elevator. The past two years, he had been
taking care of the Klemme Golf Course. He died of a heart attack.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Surviving are his wife, Esther and two daughters: Gloria (Mrs. Frank)
Sherwood of Mason City and Margaret (Mrs. Larry) Bruner of Iowa City; two
brothers: Rufus Haefner of Edgerton, Wis., and Paul Heafner of Winfield,
Illinois and four grandchildren.old
