- Lawson E. Hockey
Sun City - Lawson E. Hockey, 83, a teacher and football coach for the Des
Plaines, Ill., school system for 45 years before retiring in 1968, died
July 1, 1986, at Boswell Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hockey of Sun City, was born in Hickory Grove, Iowa, and moved to
Arizona in 1968 from Illinois. He graduated from Northern Iowa University
and received his masters degree from Iowa State University.
He was a member of Sun City Christian Church, Sun City Youngtown Kiwanis
Club, a 39 year member of Kiwanis International, and past president of Des
Plaines Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Opal; daughter, Patricia Swanson;
stepdaughter, Harriet Proudfoot McCoy; stepson, Harold Proudfoot Jr.;
three sisters; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N.
103rd Ave. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at his church, 98th Avenue
and Palmeras. Memorial contributions may be made to his church, P.O. Box
