Clear Lake - Funeral services for Orin M. Holstad, 57, principal of
Central School here, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran
Church, Clear Lake. Burial will be in Sion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural
Lake Mills.
Mr. Holstad died Wednesday (Nov. 25, 1981) at a Mason City hospital.
Visitation will begin at noon today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel,
Clear Lake.
Mr. Holstad had served as principal in Clear Lake since 1960. Prior to
that time, he had been an elementary school principal at Britt and had
taught at Klemme and Webb.
He was born March 12, 1924 in Worth County to Otto and Margaret Holstad.
He married Mary Lou Rabe on Feb. 1, 1953 in Webb. He served in the U.S.
Army in World War II and was a member of the Clear Lake Noon Lions Club,
the American Legion, the Elementary Principals Association and Zion
Lutheran Church.
Survivors included his wife, Mary Lou, Clear Lake; a son, David, Clear
Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Connie Kvam, Neola; his mother, Mrs. Margaret
Holstad, Northwood; and three brothers, Richard, Northwood; Waldo,
Farmington, Minn.; and Arden, Tucson, Ariz.
