Paul Dean Hopp, 63, of Earlham, died of leukemia Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at home.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. John's Catholic Church in Adel, of which he was a member. Burial was at Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood.

Paul Hopp was born in Malvern on Feb. 1, 1939, the son of Anna Fisher Hopp and Ferdinand Hans Hopp. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1957. He attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in curriculum. He later obtained his master's degree.

He married Janet Kathryn Rhody on Aug. 27, 1960, in Glemwood.

He taught in Walnut, Malvern, and Tabor, and was superintendent in Klemme. In 1976 he became superintendent in Earlham, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of Earlham Lions Club and the Iowa Association of School Administrators. He was a long time 4-H project leader, specializing in horses. He loved riding horses, and working on his farm.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, a son, David, and a daughter, Kate Beamer. both of Earlham; a brother, John, of Plattsmouth, Neb.; three sisters, Dorothy Stouder,of Randolph, Phyllis Stouder, of Omaha, and Marilyn Hayne, of Malvern; and six grandchildren.

Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham was in charge of arrangements. Memorial services may be made to Middle River Hospice.
