- Former Resident Dies In Farm Home Near Charles City

Mrs. Martha Boekemier, 74, widow of the late William Boekemier, passed
away March 4, at her farm home nine miles southwest of Charles City in
Ulster township.
Mrs. Boekmeier suffered a cerebral hemorrhage December 22. Her death was
due to complications following this attack.
She has been a resident of this community in which she lived for 13 years,
previous to this time the Boekemiers lived northeast of Floyd.
Mrs. Boekemeir was born in Marble Rock May 16, 1874 to George and Sarah
Wilbern Hubbard. She grew to womanhood in Marble Rock teaching school both
in Floyd and Hancock counties.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Amy Tjaden and Mrs. Mabel Wamsley,
both of Floyd, a son Donald living at home and three sisters, Mrs. Mamie
Randall of Marble Rock, Mrs. Minnie Smith of Central City and Mrs. Carrie
Wood of Milwaukee, Oregon, also five grandchildren. A son Arley Wilbern
preceded her in death at the age of three years, and also a brother Frank.
Funeral services were held March 8th at the Hauser Funeral home in Charles
City. Rev. F. C. Hoffman, Pastor of the Flood Creek Methodist church
officiating.
Burial was in Hillside cemetery, Marble Rock.
