Fred Janke Buried This Afternoon In Klemme Cemetery

Native Of Germany Had Attained Age Of 86, Three Days Before Death

Klemme - Funeral rites for Fred Janke, who passed away at he home of his son, Henry, Monday night, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Reformed church in Klemme.

Fred Janke was born on the 26th day of June, 1850, at Dauer, Brandenburg, Germany. He received batism and was confirmed in the Lutheran church. On the 2nd day of May, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Mathilda Fromm of Strassburg, Germany.

In 1880 the family came to America and settled on a farm near Ackley, where they remained twelve years. From there they moved to Meservey and after nine years to the Klemme Community. In 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Janke moved to Klemme.

Of the seven children two died in infancy and one son Frank, who lived in Canada, died three years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. Bertha Kluseman of Clear Lake; Mrs. John Neuberger, Klemme; Henry Janke, Klemme; Mrs. Wm. Waddingham, Klemme.

Mr. and Mrs. Janke were members of the Klemme Reformed church. They were satisfied and happy in their humble home, where the children and their many friends were welcome at all times. Grandfather Janke was a kind hearted man who proved himself loyal and true to his friends. Mrs. Janke died about seven years ago. Since that time Mr. Janke spent most of his time in the home of his son, Henry. About six years ago he began to fail in health. He was called from this life Monday evening, June 29, at the age of 86 years and three days. He is survived by one son, three daughters, 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Klemme Reformed church on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. C. Grossheusch in charge. Burial was at the Klemme Calvary cemetery.
