LaVon Armeta Franken Montgomery

Mrs. LaVon Montgomery, 53

Services for Mrs. LaVon Montgomery, 53, of Garner, who died Wednesday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City were held 2 p.m., Saturday July 7 at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Larry Laskie as officiant, Mrs. Alan Jass, organist, accompanied soloist, Mrs. Dale Greiman. Ushers were Gordon Upmeyer, Al DeWitt and Stan Greiman.

Casketbearers were Marlin Stadtlander, Merlyn Borchers, Burke Haberkamp, Mark Katuin, Harvey Mitchell and Don Jensen.

Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery at Klemme. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs. LaVon Montgomery, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Ploeger) Franken was born Oct. 16, 1930 at Odebolt, Iowa. She attended school at Odebolt, "Hayes School" in Storm Lake and in 1948 graduated from Schaller High School. She obtained her elementary teaching certificate after attending the University of Iowa at Iowa City and University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls.

She taught school at Klemme for 11 years and at Garner for nine years.

July 20, 1952 she was married to H. W. "Bud" Montgomery at Schaller. They lived at Klemme until 1957 when they moved to Garner.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Zion Woman's Fellowship and the American Political Items Collector's Club.

She is survived by her husband, H. W. "Bud" Montgomery, her daughter Ann Janette Montgomery both of Garner; her parents, Henry and Ella Franken of Schaller; a brother, Dale Franken and his wife, Phyllis of Odebolt and several nieces and Nephews.
