- Former Resident Dies at Iowa Falls
Mrs. George Nissen of Iowa Falls, after an illness of three weeks, died
Friday morning, at 5 o'clock.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 1:45 at the home in Iowa Falls,
Rev. Ortmyer, a cousin of Mrs. Nissen and pastor of the Clarion Methodist
church was in charge of the services. Burial took place in the Clear Lake
cemetery. Mr. Nissen was unable to attend the burial service because of
illness.
Amy Martha Paul was born at Riceville, Iowa, June 10, 1882, in the
childhood home of her mother, living there until nine years of age when
the family moved to Clear Lake. She attended Midland college at Mason
City, after which she taught in a rural school for two years, later
teaching in the Klemme public school.
On Dec. 24, 1902, Miss Paul was married to George Nissen. To them were
born a daughter and son, Mabel Ruth and Paul Virgil. In 1910 Mr. and Mrs.
Nissen moved to Iowa Falls where they have since resided.
She is survived by her husband, George Nissen, a daughter Mrs. Melvin Haas
of Des Moines and son Paul of Valley Junction; two grandchildren, Ralph
Nissen and Kurt Haas; her mother, Mrs. F. C. Paul and three sisters, Mrs.
Mabel Paul, Mrs. Edna Hammond and Mrs. Alice Butz, all of Clear Lake.
Mrs. Nissen was an earnest Christian, devoting her time unsparingly to
work in the Baptist church. At one time she was teacher in the Sunday
School, belonging to the Boosters and Miss Ellis' Classes, the choir,
Auxiliary and Mission Circle.
She was also an active member of the Home Economics Club.
Her optimism and keen sense of humor endeared her to all and helped many a
friend over difficult places.
The vacancy caused by her departure can never be refilled, but she leaves
behind a memory which will be cherished by all with whom she came in
contact.

Mrs. Jewel Paul of Clear Lake; Joe Nissen of Estherville; Mr. and Mrs. C.
Nissen of Rockwell City; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Peitzke, Luverne; Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Peitzke, Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. George Ditzel of Spencer; Mr. and
Mrs. Fay Thompson of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. V. Stone and Mrs. Blanche
Allen of Mason City; Mrs. Mary Bokelman, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Momyer, Mr.

- Nissen Burial To Be At Lake
Mrs. Nissen, Iowa Falls, Was Former Klemme Resident
Clear Lake, Oct 15 - Funeral services for Mrs. George Nissen, 50, a former
Clear Lake woman, will be held at the Nissen home at Iowa Falls at 1:45
o'clock Sunday afternoon, Burial will be made in the Clear Lake cemetery
at 4 o'clock.
Amy M. Nissen was born June 10,1882, at Riceville. When she was nine years
old she came with her parents to Clear Lake, settling on a farm north of
town. She taught in the rural schools of Lincoln and Clear Lake townships
and in the Klemme schools preceding her marriage Dec. 24, 1902, to George
Nissen.
They lived in Klemme for a while and have lived in Iowa Falls for the past
20 years, where Mr. Nissen is engaged in a garage business.
Mrs. Nissen is survived by her husband, one son, Paul Nissen, Valley
Junction; and one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Haas, Des Moines; her mother, Mrs.
F. C. Paul, Clear Lake; and two sisters, Mrs. E. E. Butz and Mrs. Roy
Hammond, Clear Lake, and two grandchildren.
The Rev Ortmeyer, Methodist pastor at Clarion, a cousin of Mr. Nissen,
will officiate at the services. Mr. Nissen will be unable to make the trip
to Clear Lake for the burial because of his recent illness.
