Charles Lloyd Sherwood

Service held for Lloyd Sherwood

Charles Lloyd Sherwood, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Concord Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Klemme. The Rev. J. E. Albertson officiating.

Bill Renner and Ton Renner sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Mrs. Robert Schulz, organist.

Burial was made in Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell, with the Johnston Funeral Home of Klemme in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Ronald Brinkman, Russ Thorson, Eugene Hall, Ernest Gerardi, Gordon Sawtelle and Roy Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers were Orville Bridges, Wilbur Haefner, Sumner Trumbell, Don Bacon, John Etchen and Worthy Usher.

Charles Lloyd Sherwood, the son of Charles and Nellie Mae Sherwood, was born on a farm in Cerro Gordo County near Rockwell, on April 1, 1897.

As a youth he attended elementary schools and later the Hamilton Business College in Mason City. On May 30, 1918, he entered military service with the United States Army and served overseas in France.

On April 13, 1927, he was united in marriage to Irma Hawkins Read, at Gallatin, Mo. He was employed by the Northern Lumber Company over forty years, first in Mason City and later as manager of the Klemme firm for 21 years.

Mr. Sherwood was a member of the American Legion, had served on the town council, school board, civic club and official board member of the Methodist Church of which he was a member.

Surviving are his wife, Irma; a daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Nellie) Ausborn of Klemme; one son, Francis of Mason City, and five grandchildren.
