- Richard Cobb Sucher
Of Rogers, Arkansas, died October 30, 1989 in Houston, Texas. Born
December 17, 1911, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Harvey Ernest Sucher
and Grace Kroesen Sucher.
He was a teacher, musician, band leader, woodworker and helped organize
first Iowa State Band Festival 30's. Active in Iowa Band Masters
Association 1934-1939; President, Waterloo Junior Chamber of Commerce and
active in Waterloo Lions and Elks Club.
He was a resident of Houston, Texas area 1955-1979, employed 1956-1987 by
Pfanstiehl Chemical Co., Waukegan, Illinois.
Survivors wife, Florence Coughlan Sucher formerly of Des Moines; sons,
Steven of Houston and Richard II of Des Moines; daughters, Sheldon
Thompson of New Orleans and Meredith Wade of Alexandria, VA.,10
grandchildren; a brother, Robert Sucher of Story City; and sisters,
Margaret Walker of Tampa, FL and Ernestine Reeder of Kiester, Minn.
Memorial services were held Friday Nov. 3 in Houston. A gathering of
friends and family in Rogers pending. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6301 Richmond,
Houston, TX 77057.

- Cedar Falls - Richard Cobb Sucher, 77, of Rogers,
Ark., formerly of Cedar Falls and Waterloo, died Oct. 30 at Houston of
leukemia.
He was born Dec. 17, 1911, at Cedar Falls, son of Harvey Ernest and Grace
Koesen Sucher. He married Florence Coughlan in 1939 at Des Moines.
Mr. Sucher was a teacher, musician, band leader and woodworker. He helped
organize the first Iowa State Band Festival in the mid 1930's. He was past
president of Waterloo Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was employed with
Pfanstiehl Chemical Co., Waukegan, Ill., retiring in 1987.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven of Houston and Richard II of
Des Moines; two daughters, Sheldon Thompson of New Orleans and Meredith
Wade of Alexandria, Va.,10 grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Story City;
and two sisters, Margaret Walker of Tampa, Fla., and Ernestine Reeder of
Kiester, Minn.
Memorial services were Nov. 3 at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston. The
body was cremated. Escort Mortuary Service, Houston, was in charge of
arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
