- Services held for Worthie Usher, 75
Services for Worthie Clifford Usher, 75, were held last Wednesday, May 31,
from the United Methodist church, Klemme, with Dr. M. Trevor Baskerville
officiating.
Mr. Usher died on Monday, May 29, 1972, at the Belmond Community hospital
following an illness.
He was born on July 15, 1896, at Palo, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and
Frances Webber Usher. He was reared and educated in the Palo area.
The pallbearers for the services were; Gordon Sawtelle, Lloyd Lau, Wayne
Whitney, Don Lemke, Robert Scott, and Paul Goll. Music was supplied by the
songs, "Oh God Our Help in Ages Past," and, "All Hail the Power of Jesus
Name." The organist was Mrs. Robert Schulz. Interment took place in the
Klemme cemetery. The Willim-Andrew Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
On Oct. 5, 1924, he was united in marriage to Minnie Blank in the Little
Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They began housekeeping in Palo here he
owned and operated a small store. Later they moved to Rowan and then to
Williams, Iowa where he operated stores.
In 1953 they moved to Klemme were he worked as custodian of the grade
school and school bus driver until retirement in 1962. After his
retirement much of his time was occupied by fishing. Mrs. Usher passed
away on May 31, 1954.
Mr. Usher served in the army during World War I. He was a member of the
American Legion, Senior Citizens group of Klemme, and The United Methodist
church.
Surviving are two sons: the Rev. Worthie of Clear Lake, and the Rev.
Carroll Usher of Tama; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and one
sister.

Funeral services for Worthie C. Usher, 75, of Klemme, who died a week ago
Monday morning at the Belmond Community hospital, were held Wednesday of
last week at the United Methodist church in Klemme. The Rev. M. Trevor
Baskerville officiated. Burial was in the Klemme cemetery. The Willim-Andrew
Funeral Home was in charge of Arrangements.
Worthie C, Usher was born July 15, 1896, in Palo, the son of Henry and
Frances Webber Usher. He was educated in Palo. On Oct. 5, 1924, he was
united in marriage to Minnie Blank in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.

until his retirement in 1962.
Mr. Usher served in the U.S. Army in World War I. He was a member of the
American Legion, and the United Methodist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and one
sister.
Survivors include two sons: Worthie of Clear Lake, and Carroll of Tama;
and seven grandchildren.
