Larry Baack, the son of Paul William and Opal Darlene (Wilkinson) Baack, was born May 12, 1946, at Garner, IA. He spent the earlier part of his education attending Klemme Schools and later attended and graduated from Britt High School.

Larry spent most of his adult life working as a farm hand. he loved being in the outdoors, working the earth, planting the seeds and reaping the harvest with his father and his uncle's Robert and Richard Baack. He truly relished working alongside all three of them. Larry loved to tinker and repair the machinery and getting it ready for the many tasks at hand. He could tear apart a tractor and put it back together without missing a beat. Larry lived for a time on the farm with his folks and later moved into town and residing at the Klemme Apartments before spending a number of years at Duncan Heights and the last ten was a resident of Concord Care Center, Garner. He loved anything John Deere and had lots of John Deere collections. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan following all their sports teams and enjoyed bus trips with his mom, Darlene to the casinos and looked forward to day trips with Luke Crotty and tooling about the countryside with his mom. He truly enjoyed the simple things of life such as a good visit, a drive about to check the crops, or time spent relaxing enjoying a treat of ice cream, popcorn, chocolate covered cherries, and washing it all down with an ice-cold Coke.

Those who know Larry will reflect back on him as a man who was mostly soft spoken, who was kind and sometimes stubborn, who loved whatever life brought his way. A guy with a unique sense of humor, who made the most of the life he was given.

He will be remembered by his loving sister, Lora (Ron) Carpenter, Mason City, IA; and their children Amy (Jeff) Morris, Jay, Florida, and Angela Carpenter, Mason City, IA; 3 greats and 2 great great nieces and nephews. as well as other extended family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Darlene, uncles Richard and Robert Baack, and other family and friends.

His family wants to thank the staff at Concord Care Center for the love and care they gave Larry over the last decade.
