Services for Lynford H. Back, 79, Klemme, who died Saturday, July 29, 1995, were
held Tuesday, Aug. 1, 10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of
Christ in Klemme with Rev. William H. Green officiating.
Music was provided by Diane Stadtlander, organist, and Bill Renner, vocalist;
and the congregation.
Casket bearers were Steve Tasel, Craig Larson, Lynn Kertaus, Jack Williams,
Harley Nuehring and Merrill Mecklinberg.
Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with Tenold Funeral Homes in
charge of arrangements.
Lynford Back, the son of Herman E. and Flora (Kern) Back, was born May 30, 1916
on a farm near Blairstown. He moved to Klemme in 1928 and graduated from Klemme
High School in 1934.
May 20, 1941, he married Carmen L. Kluckhohn at the Immanuel Reformed Church.
Lynford worked as a farm hand for seven years and for the ASCS office, ran a gas
station for a year and a cream route for the Klemme Coop Creamery for three
years. In 1947, he took over the family farm and retired from the farm in 1977
when they moved to Klemme.
He was a member of the Immanuel Reformed Untied Church of Christ in Klemme,
served on the Klemme Coop Board for several years and was instrumental in the
development of Slippery Elm Golf Course in Klemme.
He is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Brager and her husband, Daryl of Eagle
Grove; sons, Joel Back and his wife, Yvonne of Lake Mills, and David Back and
his wife, Denise of Des Moines; grandchildren, Tracy Brager Just and her
husband, Craig, Tammy Brager Peterson and her husband, Chris, David Sung Lee
Back, Kierstin Back and Dakota Back; great-grandchildren, Parker Just and Jessie
Peterson; and a special friend, Catherine Mattis of Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carmen; a sister, Marilyn
Buseman; brothers, Richard, Graydon and Wilford Back; and a granddaughter, Judy
Lynn Brager.
