Thomas "Russell" Bell

Mason City - Thomas "Russell" Bell, 88, of 1111 East State St., died Friday (Oct. 28, 1994) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. David Anderson and the Rev. Stephen Engelstad of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

Thomas Russell Bell was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Maroa, Ill., a son of William and Julia (Brannen) Bell. In 1914, he moved with his family to Klemme where they farmed.

He married Mamie C. Deiger on July 9, 1932, in Garner. They farmed in the Klemme and Goodell areas. They moved to Mason City in 1948, and Russell worked for the Cerro Gordo County Maintenance Department until he retired in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie C. Bell of Mason City; one son, Russell R. Bell and his wife, Beth of Wylie, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica, Emily and Clinton Bell of Wylie, Texas, and Kimberly and Shanna Bell of California; one special friend, Bart Pals and wife Jody, and their children, Katie and Logan, of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Myrtle Lassahn; and three brothers, Jefferson Bell, Fred Bell and Kenneth Bell.
